DUCRU-BEAUCAILLOU 2025 – Grand Cru Classé, Saint-Julien – 99-100/100 Pts
Located in the heart of the Saint-Julien appellation, Château Ducru-Beaucaillou stands among the greatest references of the Médoc. This Second Growth Classified Estate of 1855 takes its name from its “beaux cailloux” (beautiful stones), the perfectly draining Garonne gravel soils that define the identity and precision of its wines.
The 2025 vintage is distinguished by remarkable aromatic depth and outstanding elegance. The nose reveals a beautiful concentration of ripe black fruits, along with notes of cedar, graphite, fine spices, and a delicate floral touch. On the palate, the structure is broad and perfectly balanced, with fine yet very present tannins, delivering both power and precision.
The overall profile embodies the refined and racy style of Ducru-Beaucaillou: intensity, elegance, and purity. A great ageing wine, destined for a slow and majestic evolution over several decades.
Located in the heart of the Saint-Julien appellation, Château Ducru-Beaucaillou is one of the most prestigious Second Growth Classified Estates of the Médoc. Its history dates back to the 18th century, and it has progressively established itself as a benchmark of Bordeaux’s Left Bank.
The vineyard spans approximately 75 hectares as a single block, planted on the Garonne gravel ridges rich in pebbles, known as “beaux cailloux,” which provide exceptional natural drainage and ideal thermal regulation for grape ripening.
The vineyard is dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon, complemented by Merlot and a small proportion of Petit Verdot, allowing for highly precise and complex blends. Under the leadership of the Borie family, the estate has undergone significant technical investments both in the vineyard and the cellar, further enhancing the precision and consistency of its style.
Today, Ducru-Beaucaillou is recognized for producing wines of great sophistication, combining controlled power, elegance, and fine tannins, perfectly embodying the excellence of great Saint-Julien wines.
