Saint-Julien AOC: 3 x 100 Pts
A Second Growth (Deuxième Grand Cru Classé) in the 1855 Classification, Château Léoville Las Cases stands among the greatest names of the Médoc, often regarded as one of the estates closest to the First Growths due to its rigor and remarkable consistency.
The 2025 vintage powerfully expresses the depth and nobility of the Saint-Julien terroir. The bouquet opens with precise aromas of blackcurrant, blackberry, and black cherry, complemented by notes of cedar, fine tobacco, and graphite. The overall expression is highly pure, combining a classical profile with exceptional control and precision.
On the palate, the structure is impressive yet perfectly balanced. The tannins are dense, fine, and seamlessly integrated, supported by remarkable freshness that extends the finish. The power remains restrained, serving elegance and precision throughout.
A benchmark long-ageing wine, Léoville Las Cases 2025 combines depth, energy, and sophistication. It will require time to fully reveal its potential, but promises outstanding evolution over several decades.
Located at the northern edge of the Saint-Julien appellation, Château Léoville Las Cases is one of the most prestigious estates in the Médoc. Classified as a Second Growth (Deuxième Grand Cru Classé) in the 1855 Classification, it is often regarded as one of the greatest wines of the classification, both for its consistency, depth, and unique style.
The vineyard extends over an exceptional terroir along the banks of the Gironde estuary, with deep gravel soils ideally suited to Cabernet Sauvignon, the dominant grape variety of the estate. This privileged location gives the wines remarkable structure, great precision, and exceptional ageing potential.
The estate is also known for its almost “château within a château” organization, with a historic enclosed vineyard, the famous Grand Clos, which forms the heart of the estate and gives rise to its most emblematic cuvées.
Léoville Las Cases is renowned for its highly structured, deep, and refined style, combining restrained power, aromatic finesse, and great complexity. The estate produces wines of remarkable consistency, capable of ageing for several decades while retaining freshness and elegance.
