The Chambertin Clos de Bèze 2018 from Domaine Faiveley is one of the great red wines of the Côte de Nuits, originating from one of Burgundy’s most prestigious appellations. Classified as a Grand Cru, the Clos de Bèze climat has historically been regarded as one of the noblest terroirs of Gevrey-Chambertin, capable of producing Pinot Noir of exceptional depth and longevity.
The Domaine Faiveley, based in Nuits-Saint-Georges, has established itself as one of Burgundy’s key players through a rigorous approach to vineyard management and precise winemaking, combining tradition with modern techniques. In this cuvée, parcel-level work and careful ageing management reveal the full complexity of the terroir.
The 2018 vintage is marked by ripeness and concentration. The nose reveals intense aromas of ripe black fruits, cherry, blackberry and raspberry, enriched with floral notes, liquorice, sweet spices, and hints of undergrowth and truffle as it opens.
On the palate, the attack is ample and structured. The tannins are powerful yet perfectly integrated, supporting a dense and simultaneously silky texture. The wine shows a remarkable balance between richness, finesse and depth, with outstanding aromatic precision.
This Chambertin Clos de Bèze 2018 has excellent ageing potential and can evolve gracefully over several decades. It pairs perfectly with fine red meats, game, rich sauces, and mushroom-based dishes.
The Domaine Faiveley is one of Burgundy’s great historic wine estates. Founded in 1825 and based in Nuits-Saint-Georges, it is today one of the most important producers in the Côte de Nuits, with an exceptional vineyard heritage spread across numerous prestigious appellations.
For several generations, the Faiveley family has developed a demanding approach to viticulture, combining respect for Burgundian traditions with modern winemaking techniques. The estate has gradually established itself as a benchmark for the precision of its wines, in both red and white styles.
The vineyards extend across outstanding terroirs, including numerous parcels classified as Grands Crus and Premiers Crus, particularly in the Côte de Nuits and Côte de Beaune. This diversity allows the full richness of Burgundy’s climats to be expressed, with a strong fidelity to each individual parcel.
The estate’s philosophy is based on meticulous parcel-by-parcel vineyard management, controlled yields, and precise vinification, with oak ageing carefully tailored to each cuvée. The aim is to preserve the identity of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay while revealing the depth and finesse of the terroirs.
Wines from the Domaine Faiveley are known for their structure, elegance and ageing potential, and are today considered among the essential references of modern Burgundy.
