Château de Fieuzal 2025 – Pessac-Léognan
: 96-98
The Château de Fieuzal 2025 is a Grand Cru Classé from Graves, located in the Pessac-Léognan appellation on the left bank of Bordeaux. The estate is known for producing both structured red wines and expressive, precise whites.
The vineyard covers around 39 hectares and is planted on deep gravel soils mixed with clay, typical of the appellation. These soils ensure excellent drainage while also providing good water regulation, promoting concentration and balanced ripening.
The 2025 vintage looks particularly promising in Pessac-Léognan, with favourable weather conditions allowing for even ripening and fresh aromatic expression. The red blend is typically dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon, complemented by Merlot and a proportion of Petit Verdot.
Ageing in French oak barrels is carefully managed to add structure and complexity without masking the fruit, resulting in a precise and elegant style.
On the nose, aromas of black fruits, blackcurrant, and cherry are complemented by floral notes, fine spices, and cedar. On the palate, the attack is silky and direct, with fine tannins, fresh tension, and a long, harmonious finish.
This is a refined Pessac-Léognan, combining freshness, precision, and strong ageing potential.
Château de Fieuzal – Estate
The Château de Fieuzal is a wine estate located in Léognan, in the heart of the Pessac-Léognan appellation, on the left bank of Bordeaux. It is classified as a Grand Cru Classé of Graves (for both red and white wines).
The vineyard covers around 75 hectares, most of which are dedicated to red wines, with a smaller portion planted to white varieties. It is set on beautiful deep gravel ridges mixed with clay-limestone subsoils, typical of the appellation. This terroir produces wines that are structured, elegant, and marked by a fresh backbone.
Since 2001, the estate has been owned by the Quinn family and is now managed with a modern and precise approach under the direction of experienced technical teams. Viticulture is rigorous, with detailed parcel-by-parcel management and a constant focus on achieving optimal ripeness balance.
The red varieties are mainly Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, complemented by Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. The white wines are made from Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon, producing fresh, aromatic, and tense styles.
Winemaking is precise and adapted to each parcel, while ageing in French oak barrels adds complexity and finesse without masking the fruit.
Today, Château de Fieuzal is considered a solid benchmark in Pessac-Léognan, producing consistent, expressive wines capable of excellent ageing in bottle.
