Château Gruaud Larose 2025 – Saint-Julien
The Château Gruaud Larose 2025 is a red wine from the Saint-Julien appellation, on the left bank of the Médoc. It is a Deuxième Grand Cru Classé from the 1855 classification, renowned for the consistency and nobility of its style, balancing power and elegance.
The vineyard covers around 80 hectares in a single block, planted on deep gravel hills with clay-sand subsoils typical of Saint-Julien. This terroir promotes slow and even ripening of Cabernet Sauvignon while preserving freshness and balance.
The 2025 vintage expresses a classic, structured style with excellent concentration and perfectly managed ripeness. The blend is dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon, complemented by Merlot, with small proportions of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot depending on the parcels.
The estate is known for its strict standards in both vineyard and cellar, with meticulous parcel selection and precise winemaking aimed at preserving terroir identity. Ageing in French oak barrels brings complexity, depth, and aromatic finesse.
On the nose, the wine reveals aromas of blackcurrant, dark berries, and cherry, along with notes of cedar, gentle spices, and subtle floral hints. On the palate, the attack is ample and structured, with fine tannins, fresh tension, and a long, elegant finish.
This is a refined Saint-Julien, combining density, balance, and excellent ageing potential.
Château Gruaud Larose – Estate
The Château Gruaud Larose is a wine estate located in Saint-Julien, in the heart of the Médoc, on the left bank of Bordeaux. It is classified as a Deuxième Grand Cru Classé in the 1855 classification and is among the most historic and highly regarded estates of the appellation.
The estate dates back to the 18th century and was long structured as a large family property before evolving into a more modern organisation, while maintaining a strong cru identity. Its name is associated with a tradition of character-driven wines that combine power and elegance.
The vineyard covers around 80 hectares in a single block, planted on the deep gravel soils of the Garonne typical of Saint-Julien, over clay-sand subsoils. This terroir provides excellent water regulation and promotes slow, even ripening of Cabernet Sauvignon.
The vineyard is mainly planted with Cabernet Sauvignon, complemented by Merlot, along with small proportions of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. This diversity allows the production of structured, complex, and well-balanced wines.
Viticulture is carried out with great precision, through detailed parcel-by-parcel management and constant attention to optimal ripeness. Winemaking is careful and minimally interventionist, aiming to preserve the expression of the terroir.
Ageing in French oak barrels brings depth, complexity, and finesse, while respecting the classic and structured style of the estate.
