Located on the limestone plateau of Saint-Émilion, Château Pavie is one of the most prestigious estates on Bordeaux’s Right Bank. Classified as a 1st Grand Cru Classé A in the Saint-Émilion classification, it is renowned for producing powerful, deep wines with remarkable aromatic intensity.
The 2020 vintage benefited from outstanding weather conditions, allowing the grapes to reach optimal ripeness. The wine expresses the full richness of Pavie’s terroir, with remarkable concentration and great precision in fruit expression.
The blend is dominated by Merlot, complemented by Cabernet Franc and a small proportion of Cabernet Sauvignon. The nose reveals intense aromas of ripe black fruits, black cherry and plum, alongside floral notes, liquorice, sweet spices and subtle hints of toast.
On the palate, Château Pavie 2020 stands out for its power, imposing structure and full, velvety texture. The tannins are dense yet perfectly integrated, supporting a rich and deep palate. The finish is long, persistent and marked by a beautiful freshness.
Already impressive in its youth, Pavie 2020 also offers excellent ageing potential and ranks among the great wines of Saint-Émilion, combining intensity, complexity and elegance.
Located on the heights and the famous limestone plateau of Saint-Émilion, Château Pavie is one of the most prestigious estates on Bordeaux’s Right Bank. Classified as a Premier Grand Cru Classé A, it is renowned for producing powerful, deep wines with remarkable aromatic intensity.
The estate’s history dates back several centuries, but it entered its modern era in the 19th century thanks to successive owners who gradually built an exceptional vineyard. Today, Pavie is considered one of the great names of Saint-Émilion and is regularly cited among the appellation’s leading references.
The vineyard covers approximately 37 hectares, spread across the slopes and the plateau. It is mainly planted with Merlot, complemented by Cabernet Franc and a small proportion of Cabernet Sauvignon. This diversity of terroirs allows the production of wines that are both rich, structured and complex.
The limestone and clay-limestone soils of the plateau provide ideal conditions for slow and complete grape ripening, contributing to the concentration and depth characteristic of the estate’s wines.
Under the guidance of the Perse family, the estate has undergone significant modernisation, both in the vineyard and in the cellar. Work is carried out with precision, with particular attention paid to each parcel in order to best reveal the richness of the terroir.
The wines of Château Pavie are distinguished by their power, imposing structure, velvety texture and excellent ageing potential, while maintaining an intense and refined aromatic expression.
