From one of the greatest appellations in the northern Rhône Valley, La Chapelle 2018 embodies the full power and depth of the Hermitage wines produced by Paul Jaboulet Aîné. The 2018 vintage, warm and perfectly ripe, delivers a wine of remarkable intensity while retaining the structure and freshness typical of Hermitage terroirs.

The nose is rich and complex, combining blackberry, blackcurrant, and black cherry, alongside notes of violet, black pepper, liquorice, fine leather, and graphite. Oak ageing adds nuances of cocoa, toast, and noble wood, all seamlessly integrated. On the palate, the texture is full, dense, and concentrated, supported by powerful yet highly refined tannins. The overall balance is preserved by a fine tension that extends the finish, unfolding into spicy, smoky notes and ripe black fruit.

The Estate

Paul Jaboulet Aîné is one of the historic wine houses of the Rhône Valley, founded in 1834. It is particularly renowned for its work on the great terroirs of Hermitage, especially the famous La Chapelle parcel, located on the steep slopes overlooking the Rhône River.

The Hermitage vineyard is a mosaic of granite and clay-limestone soils, offering a wide range of expressions depending on the specific lieux-dits. Syrah finds an ideal environment here, producing structured, deep wines with excellent ageing potential. Parcel selection plays a crucial role, with each cuvée resulting from a strict selection of the finest grapes.

Today, the estate follows a demanding qualitative approach, combining respect for terroir, precision in the cellar, and carefully controlled ageing in order to preserve the signature style of its great Hermitage wines.
