Château Montrose 2025: 2 x 100/100 Pts
Grand Cru Classé – Saint-Estèphe
A true benchmark of the Saint-Estèphe appellation, Château Montrose ranks among the most prestigious estates of the Médoc. Situated on an exceptional terroir overlooking the Gironde estuary, the estate produces wines of remarkable depth, combining power, precision and elegance.
The 2025 vintage follows in the footsteps of the property’s greatest successes. It reveals an intense bouquet of ripe black fruits, blackcurrant and blackberry, complemented by delicate notes of spice, cedar and graphite. On the palate, the wine is broad and impeccably structured, supported by finely textured tannins and remarkable freshness that bring both balance and length.
A Saint-Estèphe of outstanding class, built for long-term cellaring and destined to evolve beautifully over the coming decades.
The Estate – Château Montrose
Located in the heart of the Saint-Estèphe appellation, Château Montrose is one of the most prestigious estates in the Médoc. Founded in the early 19th century, the estate owes its reputation to an exceptional terroir of deep gravel soils overlooking the Gironde estuary, providing ideal conditions for viticulture.
The vineyard extends over nearly 95 hectares in a single block, predominantly planted with Cabernet Sauvignon, complemented by Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. Thanks to its unique terroir and meticulous vineyard management, Château Montrose produces wines renowned for their power, depth and outstanding ageing potential.
Owned by the Bouygues family since 2006, the estate has benefited from significant investments aimed at combining tradition with innovation. Today, Château Montrose is also recognised for its environmental commitment and state-of-the-art facilities, designed to reduce its ecological footprint while preserving the excellence of its wines.
Often referred to as the “Latour of Saint-Estèphe”, Château Montrose remains an iconic benchmark among Bordeaux’s Grands Crus Classés.
