Tenuta Pian delle Vigne, located 6 km. south-west of Montalcino, takes its name from a characteristic nineteenth-century railway station on its grounds. The farm consists of 184 hectares, 65 of which are vineyards, mainly facing south-west at an altitude of around 130 metres above sea level. Pian delle Vigne represents Marchesi Antinori’s personal and profound interpretation of a prestigious and traditional wine like Brunello. The company has been owned by the Antinori family since 1995, the year of the first harvest of Brunello Pian delle Vigne. Pian delle Vigne’s Rosso di Montalcino enhances the pleasant fragrance of pure Sangiovese, one of Montalcino’s historic grape varieties. The vines are planted on clay-limestone soils, giving rise to a fresh, mineral and highly drinkable wine.
