# Château Le Châtelet 2025 – Saint-Émilion Grand Cru Classé : 94-95/100 Pts
Nestled in the heart of Saint-Émilion’s prestigious limestone plateau, Château Le Châtelet is one of the smallest and most discreet Grand Cru Classé estates in the appellation. This family-owned property, managed by Julien Berjal, benefits from an exceptional terroir surrounded by some of Saint-Émilion’s most renowned crus. The estate regained its Grand Cru Classé status in 2012 following a major restructuring of both the vineyard and winery facilities.
The vineyard covers approximately 3.2 hectares of clay-limestone soils located on the historic Saint-Émilion plateau. The vines are predominantly planted with Merlot (80%), complemented by Cabernet Franc (20%), producing wines that combine richness, elegance, and remarkable finesse.
The 2025 vintage fully expresses the character of this outstanding terroir. Deep and refined, the wine reveals aromas of ripe black fruits, black cherry, violet, and delicate spices. The palate is seductively silky, with balanced freshness and fine-grained tannins, indicating excellent ageing potential. Faithful to the estate’s style, Château Le Châtelet 2025 combines concentration, elegance, and precision in the tradition of the great wines of Saint-Émilion.

# The Estate – Château Le Châtelet
A true hidden gem of Saint-Émilion, Château Le Châtelet is a family-owned estate of just 3.2 hectares, located on the prestigious limestone plateau of the appellation, in close proximity to iconic crus such as Canon, Beau-Séjour Bécot, and Clos Fourtet. Managed by the Berjal family for several generations, this property ranks among the smallest classified estates in Saint-Émilion.
Since taking over the estate in 2002, Julien Berjal has undertaken a major restructuring of both the vineyard and winery facilities, enabling the château to regain its Grand Cru Classé status in the 2012 classification.
The vineyard is planted on exceptional clay-limestone soils, perfectly suited to the expression of Merlot (80%) and Cabernet Franc (20%). Cultivated with the utmost respect for the terroir, the vines are managed with great precision and deliberately low yields, ensuring outstanding quality and a strong sense of place.
Thanks to its intimate size and privileged location in the heart of the historic village of Saint-Émilion, Château Le Châtelet produces rare, elegant, and refined wines, renowned for their balance, finesse, and ageing potential. Each vintage reflects the authenticity of an estate where family tradition, artisanal expertise, and a commitment to excellence have been passed down through generations.
