Cuvée 1948 from Château Doisy-Daëne pays tribute to Sémillon, Bordeaux’s emblematic grape variety. Crafted from a carefully selected harvest, this cuvée honours the estate’s history while expressing the character of the 2023 vintage.
Pale yellow in colour with brilliant highlights, the wine opens with aromas of citrus fruits, white-fleshed fruits and delicate floral notes, complemented by hints of honey and dried fruit. On the palate, freshness and richness are beautifully balanced, offering a generous texture, lively tension and a long, persistent finish.
Thanks to its precision and elegance, this cuvée pairs perfectly with seafood, fish in creamy sauces, poultry with cream-based dishes and mature cheeses. It can be enjoyed today for its vibrant aromatic expression, while also offering excellent ageing potential for several years.
Château Doisy-Daëne is one of the landmark estates of the Barsac appellation, located in the heart of the Bordeaux vineyards. Founded in the 19th century and classified as a Second Growth (Deuxième Grand Cru Classé) in the historic 1855 Classification, the estate is now managed by the Dubourdieu family, renowned for its expertise in crafting some of Bordeaux’s finest white wines.
The vineyard is planted on clay-limestone and gravel soils, providing ideal conditions for Sémillon and Sauvignon Blanc to express their full character. Careful vineyard management and precise winemaking result in wines that combine freshness, balance and aromatic complexity.
While Château Doisy-Daëne is internationally celebrated for its outstanding sweet wines from Barsac, the estate also produces dry white wines such as Cuvée 1948. This cuvée highlights the purity of the fruit, the finesse of the terroir and the estate’s craftsmanship. The result is an elegant and precise wine with excellent ageing potential.
