The Tignanello 2000/2004 – Enoteca Antinori in a 6-liter format is a rare and spectacular presentation of one of the most iconic wines of the Antinori family and modern Tuscany. Produced at the Tenuta Tignanello estate, this wine is part of the foundational cuvées of the “Super Tuscan” movement, blending Italian tradition with Bordeaux-inspired winemaking.
The vineyard is located in the Chianti Classico zone, on ideally exposed hills where soils composed of limestone-rich clay, schist, and galestro allow for a precise and complex expression of the grape varieties. Sangiovese plays a central role, complemented by Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, adding structure and depth.
The two vintages presented, 2000 and 2004, each illustrate a different expression of the Tignanello style. The 2000 shows a more evolved profile with tertiary notes of leather, tobacco, candied red fruits, and undergrowth, while the 2004 retains more freshness and tension, with purer fruit and a firmer structure.
On the palate, the wine displays a classic and elegant architecture, supported by fine tannins and a harmonious balance between maturity and freshness. The style remains true to Antinori’s signature: precision, balance, and excellent ageing potential.
The 6-liter format significantly enhances the ageing capacity and promotes an even slower, more complex aromatic evolution.
This large-format Tignanello is a prestigious cuvée, ideal for special occasions, and perfectly illustrates the historical importance of the Tenuta Tignanello estate in the development of modern Italian fine wines.
The Tenuta Tignanello, owned by the Antinori family, is one of the most iconic estates in Tuscany and a key landmark in the history of modern Italian wine. Located in the heart of the Chianti Classico zone, between Florence and Siena, it is considered the birthplace of the “Super Tuscan” movement, with iconic wines such as Tignanello and Solaia.
The estate spans well-exposed hills at an ideal altitude for viticulture. The strong temperature variations between warm days and cooler nights allow for slow, complete grape ripening while preserving freshness, balance, and aromatic precision.
The soils are highly diverse, composed mainly of limestone-rich clay, schist, and galestro (a typical Tuscan stone). This geological complexity contributes directly to the wines’ depth, structure, and elegance, with each parcel expressing its own identity.
The vineyards are primarily planted with Sangiovese, complemented by Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, which are essential in the estate’s flagship blends. This combination allows the wines to combine Tuscan identity with Bordeaux-like structure.
Antinori’s philosophy is based on precision viticulture, strict grape selection, and modern yet terroir-respectful winemaking. The goal is to fully express the identity of the vineyard while achieving balance, finesse, and ageing potential.
Today, Tenuta Tignanello is regarded as one of Italy’s most influential estates and a global benchmark for fine Tuscan wines.
