L’If 2020 is a great wine from Saint-Émilion, crafted under the direction of Jacques Thienpont, also the owner of the legendary Le Pin in Pomerol. Sourced from an exceptional terroir and made with an unwavering focus on precision, it elegantly expresses the richness and finesse of its appellation.
The 2020 vintage delivers a deep, precise and seductive wine, with a bouquet of ripe black fruit, plum, violet and delicate spicy notes. On the palate, it is full and velvety, supported by fine tannins and beautiful freshness. The whole is perfectly balanced, with a long and persistent finish.
Thanks to its structure and freshness, L’If 2020 offers excellent ageing potential, while already providing considerable drinking pleasure after several years of bottle ageing.
An elegant and profound Saint-Émilion that combines richness, freshness and finesse, with all the precision that characterises the wines of the Thienpont family.
Located in Saint-Émilion, Château L’If is owned by Jacques Thienpont, also the proprietor of the legendary Le Pin in Pomerol. Acquired in 2010, the estate was established with the ambition of producing a great wine from an exceptional terroir, applying the same high standards of precision and quality that characterise the wines of the Thienpont family.
The vineyard covers approximately 8 hectares, divided into several plots with predominantly limestone and clay-limestone soils. These exceptional terroirs bring depth, freshness and elegance to the wines.
L’If is planted predominantly with Merlot and Cabernet Franc, two emblematic grape varieties of Saint-Émilion. Low yields, meticulous vineyard management and precise winemaking allow the distinctive characteristics of each plot to be expressed to their fullest.
Under the direction of Jacques Thienpont, Château L’If has quickly established itself as a benchmark among the most highly regarded estates of Saint-Émilion. Its wines are distinguished by their depth, finesse and remarkable ageing potential.
An estate with a relatively young history, yet already recognised for the quality of its terroir and the exacting standards applied to its winemaking.
