L’If 2022 is the second wine of the legendary Château Le Pin, located in Pomerol, and offers a wonderful introduction to the world of the Thienpont family. Sourced from an exceptional terroir and crafted with the same attention to precision as Le Pin, L’If expresses the distinctive character of Pomerol with remarkable elegance.
The 2022 vintage reveals a deep, generous and velvety wine, marked by aromas of ripe black fruit, plum, violet and delicate spices. On the palate, it is full-bodied and silky, supported by fine tannins and beautiful freshness. The finish is long, precise and particularly harmonious.
More approachable in its youth than Le Pin, L’If 2022 nevertheless offers excellent ageing potential and will develop beautifully over the years.
A refined and exclusive Pomerol that combines richness, freshness and elegance with the precision that characterises the wines of the Thienpont family.
Located in Saint-Émilion, Château L’If is owned by Jacques Thienpont, who is also the proprietor of the legendary Le Pin in Pomerol. Acquired in 2010, the estate was established with the ambition of creating a great wine from an exceptional terroir, applying the same high standards and precision that have built Le Pin’s reputation.
The vineyard covers approximately 8 hectares, divided into several plots with particularly remarkable limestone and clay-limestone soils. This diversity allows the estate to produce wines that combine depth, freshness and great finesse.
L’If is planted predominantly with Merlot and Cabernet Franc, two grape varieties perfectly suited to the soils of Saint-Émilion. Vineyard management focuses on low yields, precise plot-by-plot work and respect for the character of each terroir, while the winemaking is carried out with great care and delicacy.
In just a few years, Château L’If has established itself as one of the most notable estates in Saint-Émilion. Under the direction of Jacques Thienpont, the estate produces elegant, deep and precise wines with excellent ageing potential.
An estate with a relatively young history, yet already recognised for the exceptional quality of its terroirs and the exacting craftsmanship of its winemaker.
