Château Larrivet Haut-Brion Blanc 2025 – Pessac-Léognan : 94
The Château Larrivet Haut-Brion 2025 white is a white wine from the Pessac-Léognan appellation, on the left bank of Bordeaux.
The vineyard is planted on a mix of gravel soils, sand, and clay sublayers, providing an excellent balance between drainage and water retention. These terroirs are particularly well suited to the aromatic expression and freshness of white grape varieties.
The 2025 vintage benefits from favourable growing conditions, allowing for good aromatic ripeness while preserving the freshness essential to the wine’s balance. The blend is typically dominated by Sauvignon Blanc, complemented by Sémillon and sometimes a touch of Sauvignon Gris.
Ageing is partly carried out in oak barrels depending on the parcels, adding roundness and subtle complexity without masking the expression of the fruit.
On the nose, aromas of citrus fruits, white flowers, pear, and occasionally more exotic notes can be found. On the palate, the attack is fresh and precise, followed by a broader mid-palate and a fresh, elegant, slightly saline finish.
This is an expressive and balanced white Pessac-Léognan, combining freshness, aromatic finesse, and interesting ageing potential.
Château Malartic-Lagravière – Estate
The Château Malartic-Lagravière is a wine estate located in Léognan, in the heart of the Pessac-Léognan appellation, on the left bank of Bordeaux. Classified as a Grand Cru Classé de Graves for both red and white wines, it is one of the historic and consistently reliable references of the appellation.
The vineyard covers around 70 hectares, planted on deep gravel soils resting on clay-limestone subsoils. This mosaic of terroirs allows the production of wines that are structured, elegant, and marked by fine freshness.
The estate is mainly planted with Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, complemented by Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. This diversity of grape varieties brings balance, complexity, and strong ageing potential.
For several decades, the estate has been managed with a modern and precise approach to viticulture, favouring parcel-by-parcel management, strict grape selection, and winemaking adapted to each terroir.
Ageing in French oak barrels is carefully controlled to preserve the expression of the fruit while adding complexity and finesse.
Today, Château Malartic-Lagravière is regarded as a consistent and reliable Grand Cru Classé of Pessac-Léognan, producing complete, refined wines built for graceful ageing in the cellar.
