Château Malartic-Lagravière 2022 (GCC) – Pessac-Léognan
Located in the heart of the Pessac-Léognan appellation, Château Malartic-Lagravière is one of the Graves Grand Cru Classés, renowned for the consistency and precision of its wines, both red and white.
The vineyard is planted on deep gravel soils mixed with clay-limestone subsoils, typical of Bordeaux’s Left Bank. This geological diversity allows the production of wines that are structured, aromatic, and well balanced.
The 2022 vintage, marked by warm and dry conditions, led to optimal grape ripeness, resulting in concentrated wines while retaining a fine sense of freshness. The red blend is mainly composed of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, complemented by Cabernet Franc and sometimes a touch of Petit Verdot, depending on the parcels.
Ageing in French oak barrels brings an elegant and well-integrated oak framework, supporting the richness of the fruit without excess.
On the nose, aromas of ripe black fruits, blackcurrant, black cherry, along with spicy notes, light smokiness, and cocoa emerge. On the palate, the attack is broad and precise, with a firm structure, fine tannins, and a beautiful tension. The wine is harmonious, deep, and persistent.
This Grand Cru Classé of Pessac-Léognan combines controlled power, elegance, and significant ageing potential, with promising development over 10 to 20 years or more depending on storage conditions.
The Château Malartic-Lagravière is a wine estate located in Léognan, in the heart of the Pessac-Léognan appellation. Classified as a Grand Cru Classé de Graves for both red and white wines, it stands as one of the solid references of Bordeaux’s Left Bank.
The estate covers approximately 70 hectares of vineyards, planted on deep gravel soils over clay-limestone subsoils. This geological combination allows the wines to express both power, freshness, and aromatic finesse.
