Réserve de la Comtesse 2025 – Pauillac: 94-95
The second wine of the prestigious Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande, Réserve de la Comtesse 2025 beautifully expresses the refinement and elegance for which this great Pauillac estate is renowned. Crafted with the same care and attention as the Grand Vin, it offers a more approachable style in its youth while faithfully preserving the identity of the estate’s exceptional terroir.
The nose charms with its aromatic intensity and remarkable finesse, revealing notes of blackcurrant, blackberry, black cherry, and violet, complemented by delicate hints of spice and subtle oak. With aeration, nuances of graphite and cedar emerge, adding further complexity to an especially attractive bouquet.
On the palate, the wine is harmonious, generous, and perfectly balanced. Silky, precise tannins support a rich texture carried by vibrant freshness. The finish is long, elegant, and persistent, marked by exceptional purity of fruit.
More accessible in its youth than the Grand Vin while still offering excellent ageing potential, Réserve de la Comtesse 2025 pairs beautifully with red meats, roasted poultry, lamb, and mature cheeses. A refined Pauillac that faithfully reflects the style and excellence of Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande.
Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande – Pauillac
An iconic name within the Pauillac appellation, Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande ranks among the most prestigious estates of the Médoc. Classified as a Second Growth (Deuxième Grand Cru Classé) in the historic 1855 Classification, the estate benefits from an exceptional terroir of deep gravel soils over a clay subsoil, ideal for the cultivation of Bordeaux’s finest grape varieties.
Founded in the 17th century and shaped by the legacy of Comtesse Virginie de Pichon Longueville, the château has built an international reputation through wines that combine power, finesse, and elegance. Since its acquisition by the Rouzaud family, owners of Champagne Louis Roederer, the estate has continued its relentless pursuit of excellence through meticulous vineyard management and an environmentally responsible approach to viticulture.
The vineyard is predominantly planted with Cabernet Sauvignon, complemented by Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot. Each parcel is vinified with great precision to reveal the full richness and complexity of the Pauillac terroir.
Réserve de la Comtesse, the estate’s second wine, is produced according to the same uncompromising quality philosophy as the Grand Vin. It beautifully reflects the style of the property: elegant, refined, and harmonious wines offering a remarkable balance between concentration, freshness, and ageing potential.
