Château Sociando-Mallet 2025 – Haut-Médoc : 97-98
The Château Sociando-Mallet 2025 is a red wine from the Haut-Médoc appellation, on the left bank of Bordeaux.
The estate is located on the plateau of Saint-Seurin-de-Cadourne, overlooking the Gironde estuary. The vineyard is planted on deep gravel soils mixed with clay-limestone subsoils, providing excellent drainage and strong conditions for full grape ripening.
The 2025 vintage benefits from favourable growing conditions, achieving good phenolic ripeness while maintaining a fresh structural backbone. The blend is mainly composed of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, with a smaller proportion of Cabernet Franc depending on the parcels.
Ageing in French oak barrels adds complexity and additional structure, while respecting the expression of the fruit.
On the nose, aromas of blackcurrant, blackberry, and black cherry emerge, along with notes of graphite, cedar, and spice. On the palate, the attack is direct and dense, with firm tannins, fine tension, and a long, persistent finish.
This is a characterful Haut-Médoc, combining power, precision, and strong ageing potential.
Château Sociando-Mallet – Estate
The Château Sociando-Mallet is a wine estate located in the commune of Saint-Seurin-de-Cadourne, in the northern Médoc, on the left bank of Bordeaux. Although it is not officially classified, it is widely regarded as one of the most consistent and high-quality estates in the Haut-Médoc.
The vineyard covers around 50 to 60 hectares, planted on a plateau of deep gravel soils resting on clay-limestone subsoils. This elevated position, close to the Gironde estuary, promotes slow and even ripening of the grapes.
The vineyards are mainly planted with Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, complemented by a small proportion of Cabernet Franc. This planting structure produces wines that are firm, linear, and well suited for long ageing.
The estate is known for its demanding and precise style, with rigorous viticulture and winemaking focused on expressing the terroir. Ageing in French oak barrels is carefully managed to support structure without masking the fruit.
Today, Château Sociando-Mallet is considered a benchmark estate in the Haut-Médoc, producing serious, powerful, and consistently high-quality wines that are often compared to classified growths.
