The Mas de Daumas Gassac “Late Release” 13/14 is a rare cuvée resulting from many years of cellar ageing. Carefully selected by the estate, it highlights the patient evolution of the great red vintages from the Languedoc.
After more than a decade of ageing, the wine reveals great aromatic complexity: jammy black fruits, gentle spicy notes, hints of leather and forest floor. The whole gains depth and elegance over time.
The palate is generous, structured, and seamlessly integrated, with softened tannins and a long, harmonious finish. This “Late Release” cuvée illustrates the exceptional ageing potential of the estate’s wines.
A gastronomic wine, ideal with slow-cooked meats, game, or rich dishes with deep flavours.
Mas de Daumas Gassac is one of the most emblematic estates in the Languedoc. Located in Aniane, in the heart of the Gassac valley, it was founded in the 1970s by Aimé and Véronique Guibert, on what was then a wild and untouched site.
The estate is based on a rare terroir, composed of deep glacial gravel soils, and benefits from a cool microclimate influenced by the Larzac plateau and underground cold-water springs. This natural environment allows for slow grape ripening, resulting in balanced and complex wines.
From the outset, Mas de Daumas Gassac stood out for its unconventional approach: planting ancient, non-cloned grape varieties, maintaining low yields, and rejecting standard production methods. The first vintage was produced in 1978 under the guidance of oenologist Émile Peynaud, helping to reveal the potential of Languedoc for age-worthy wines.
Today, the estate is run by the Guibert family, who continue this demanding philosophy, producing wines that are internationally recognised and widely regarded as a benchmark of the Languedoc region.
