Nuits-Saint-Georges “Les Damodes” 2011
From the prestigious vineyards of the Côte de Nuits, Nuits-Saint-Georges “Les Damodes” 2011 by Domaine Faiveley showcases all the finesse and structure of Burgundy’s finest Pinot Noirs.
Located on a hillside vineyard partly at higher elevation, on the border with Vosne-Romanée, the Les Damodes climat produces wines that are more elegant and refined than the more powerful style typically associated with the heart of Nuits-Saint-Georges. The 2011 vintage offers an already open and expressive profile, with beautifully ripe fruit and excellent balance.
The nose reveals aromas of red cherry, raspberry, and wild strawberry, complemented by floral notes, undergrowth, and a subtle hint of spice. With age, more tertiary nuances of fine leather and black tea emerge.
On the palate, the attack is supple and precise. The wine retains a linear structure, supported by fine tannins and the vibrant freshness that is characteristic of northern Burgundy. The finish is harmonious, with red fruit flavours and delicate earthy notes.
A refined Nuits-Saint-Georges that combines accessibility with complexity, showing a beautifully evolved aromatic profile while retaining excellent elegance.
Domaine Faiveley
Founded in 1825, Domaine Faiveley is one of Burgundy’s oldest and most prestigious wine estates. For seven generations, the Faiveley family has built an exceptional vineyard portfolio across the finest terroirs of the Côte de Nuits, the Côte de Beaune, and the Côte Chalonnaise.
With more than 120 hectares of vineyards, including a large proportion of Premier Cru and Grand Cru sites, the estate is one of the largest vineyard owners in Burgundy. Every parcel is cultivated with meticulous care to express the unique identity of its climat.
The estate’s philosophy is based on respect for the terroir and a measured approach in the cellar. Grapes are harvested at optimal ripeness, vinification is carried out with great precision, and oak ageing is carefully tailored to each cuvée to preserve the purity of the fruit and the expression of the vineyard.
Today, the estate is led by Erwan Faiveley and is renowned for the consistency of its wines, which combine finesse, depth, and outstanding ageing potential. Its cuvées are regarded as benchmark expressions of Burgundy.
