In 1991, Patrick de Coninck and Albert Michiels acquired Château Martet. Ideally situated on a hillside along the Dordogne, the estate boasts an exceptional heritage, with a deep connection to the vines and the people who have cultivated them since Roman times.

Château Martet was built in the 13th century as a hospice of the Knights Templar, welcoming pilgrims on their way to Santiago de Compostela. From the very beginning, Patrick and Albert set themselves the ambitious goal of restoring the vineyard and estate to their former glory.

From 1998 onwards, Patrick de Coninck placed his trust in Louis Mitjavile for guidance in both viticulture and winemaking. Today, his daughter Nina continues her father’s work, advising Château Martet with the same dedication.

Over the years, their efforts have established Château Martet as an essential Bordeaux estate: five outstanding wines, a warm and welcoming property, and carefully preserved biodiversity have all contributed to the reputation of this rich and passionate story.
