Located in the heart of the Priorat region in Catalonia, Finca Dofí is one of the iconic wines of Álvaro Palacios, a leading figure in the renaissance of great Spanish wines. Sourced from steep vineyards with llicorella (slate) soils, this wine expresses the unique character and power of this distinctive terroir.
The 2021 vintage benefited from balanced weather conditions, allowing for slow and even grape ripening. The wine stands out for its remarkable aromatic precision and particularly pure fruit expression.
The blend is mainly based on Garnacha, complemented by small proportions of Cariñena and other local grape varieties. The nose reveals intense aromas of ripe red and black fruits, cherry, raspberry and blackberry, along with floral notes, Mediterranean herbs, graphite and a distinct mineral touch typical of slate soils.
On the palate, Finca Dofí 2021 shows great depth, a silky texture and vibrant energy. The tannins are fine yet present, supporting a broad and elegant structure. The whole is perfectly balanced between power, freshness and minerality.
Already highly expressive in its youth, this wine also offers excellent ageing potential and beautifully embodies the modernity and elegance of great wines from the Priorat.
The Álvaro Palacios estate is one of the leading names in contemporary Spanish winemaking. Located in the Priorat region of Catalonia, it has played a major role in the renaissance and international recognition of this demanding appellation, known for its dramatic landscapes of steep hillsides and slate soils called llicorella.
Founded by Álvaro Palacios, who comes from a historic winemaking family in Rioja, the estate quickly established itself as a benchmark thanks to an approach that is both terroir-driven and firmly focused on quality. His work, alongside other visionary winemakers, has helped position Priorat among the world’s great wine regions.
The vineyard consists of small plots scattered across steep slopes where farming is difficult and entirely manual. The main grape varieties are Garnacha and Cariñena, complemented by small amounts of local varieties. The poor, mineral soils combined with a hot, dry Mediterranean climate produce wines of great concentration and strong identity.
The estate’s philosophy is based on precision viticulture, environmental respect, and close attention to each individual parcel. Winemaking aims to preserve fruit purity and terroir expression, with carefully managed ageing.
The wines of Álvaro Palacios are distinguished by their depth, aromatic intensity, elegance and energy, making the estate one of the most respected ambassadors of Priorat on the international stage.
