Château Pape Clément Blanc 2025 – Pessac-Léognan : 97-98
The Château Pape Clément 2025 white wine is a wine from the Pessac-Léognan appellation, on the left bank of Bordeaux. It is a Grand Cru Classé of Graves, also recognized for the quality and consistency of its white wines.
The vineyard dedicated to white wines is planted on deep gravel soils mixed with clay and limestone zones. These soils provide excellent drainage while retaining enough freshness to allow slow and precise ripening of the white grapes.
The 2025 vintage benefits from favourable climatic conditions, with fresh balance and well-integrated aromatic ripeness. The blend is mainly composed of Sauvignon Blanc, complemented by Sémillon, bringing tension, richness, and complexity.
Winemaking is carried out with great precision, often partly in French oak barrels, in order to preserve aromatic expression while adding volume and texture.
On the nose, aromas of citrus, white flowers, stone fruits, and subtle toasted notes are present. On the palate, the attack is lively and precise, with fine tension, a silky texture, and a long, elegant finish.
This is a refined white Pessac-Léognan, combining freshness, complexity, and excellent ageing potential.
Château Pape Clément – Estate
The Château Pape Clément is a historic wine estate located in Pessac, just outside the city of Bordeaux, in the heart of the Pessac-Léognan appellation on the left bank.
It is one of the oldest classified growths in Bordeaux, with origins dating back to the 13th century, when the property belonged to Pope Clement V. Today, it is classified as a Grand Cru Classé of Graves and stands as one of the emblematic estates of the appellation.
The vineyard covers around 63 hectares, divided between red and white plantings, and is set on deep gravel soils mixed with clay and limestone zones. This diversity of terroirs allows the production of wines that are structured, precise, and well balanced.
The estate is mainly planted with Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot for the reds, complemented by Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. For the whites, Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon dominate, producing fresh, aromatic, and vibrant wines.
Viticulture is carried out with great precision, focusing on parcel selection, yield control, and very strict harvesting decisions. Winemaking is modern and carefully managed, with a clear goal of preserving terroir expression and fruit purity.
Ageing takes place in French oak barrels, often with a significant proportion of new oak, adding complexity, texture, and aromatic depth.
Today, Château Pape Clément is considered a benchmark in Pessac-Léognan, producing powerful, refined wines with strong ageing potential.
