PEZ 2020 – Saint-Estèphe
PEZ 2020 comes from the Saint-Estèphe appellation on Bordeaux’s Left Bank and perfectly reflects the structured and serious style of this area, renowned for its age-worthy wines.
The 2020 vintage stands out for its excellent fruit ripeness and perfectly balanced structure. The nose reveals aromas of blackcurrant, blackberry, and black cherry, complemented by notes of cedar, gentle spices, and a subtle toasty touch from oak ageing.
On the palate, the attack is straight and precise. The texture is dense without excess, supported by firm yet well-integrated tannins. The overall profile shows a very good balance between power, freshness, and elegance, typical of Saint-Estèphe.
The finish is long, slightly oaky, and persistent, with a fine tannic backbone that promises excellent ageing potential.
PEZ 2020 is a classic, serious wine—already approachable but clearly built for ageing.
The Estate – Château de Pez
Château de Pez is one of the oldest estates in the Saint-Estèphe appellation, on Bordeaux’s Left Bank. Classified as a Cru Bourgeois Exceptionnel, it belongs to the historic properties that have helped shape the reputation of the appellation through structured, serious, and age-worthy wines.
The vineyard lies on a typical Saint-Estèphe terroir, composed of Garonne gravel mixed with deep clay soils. This combination ensures both good drainage and steady water supply, allowing the grapes to achieve slow and complete ripening, essential to the estate’s style.
The vineyard is mainly planted with Cabernet Sauvignon, complemented by Merlot and occasionally a touch of Petit Verdot. Winemaking is carried out with precision, parcel by parcel, to preserve the identity of each terroir and the natural structure of the wine. Ageing in oak barrels adds finesse, complexity, and additional ageing potential.
Today, Château de Pez is known for producing classic Saint-Estèphe wines, combining power, balance, and elegance in a precise and perfectly controlled style.
