From the prestigious house Vega Sicilia, Valbuena 5º 2021 is one of the great expressions of Ribera del Duero. This wine embodies a style that is both deep, precise, and elegant, shaped by careful ageing and extremely strict grape selection.

The 2021 vintage shows a very balanced profile between ripeness and freshness. The nose opens on aromas of black fruits such as blackberry and plum, complemented by notes of blackcurrant, violet, cocoa, cedar, and fine spices. The ageing brings subtle toasted and vanilla nuances that are seamlessly integrated into the fruit.

On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and silky, with impressive density. The tannins are fine and polished, supporting a harmonious structure. The finish is long, elegant, and persistent, marked by black fruits, soft spices, and a light woody touch.

A great Spanish wine, already expressive in its youth but built to evolve with complexity and depth over many years.

Vega Sicilia

Vega Sicilia is one of Spain’s most iconic wine estates, located in the Ribera del Duero region. Founded in the 19th century, it is now regarded as a global benchmark for great Spanish age-worthy wines.

The estate spans a range of soils, including limestone, clay, and alluvial deposits, offering ideal conditions for Tempranillo, the main grape variety, complemented by other varieties depending on the cuvées. Viticulture is extremely rigorous, with very strict parcel selection.

Vega Sicilia is known for its unique approach to very long and complex ageing, combining different types of oak and extended maturation periods to build wines of remarkable depth and exceptional longevity.
