From the limestone slopes of Saint-Émilion, Chapelle d’Ausone 2017 is the second wine of the prestigious Château Ausone. It benefits from the same exceptional terroir as the grand vin, while offering a more accessible approach in a vintage with a more classic and structured profile.

The 2017 vintage, marked by contrasting weather conditions in Bordeaux, delivers a precise and linear wine. The nose opens with aromas of red cherry, raspberry, and redcurrant, complemented by floral notes of violet, as well as hints of graphite, fine spices, and a subtle touch of oak. Barrel ageing remains discreet and well integrated.

On the palate, the structure is straight and fresh. The tannins are fine and firm, providing definition without excess power. The finish is elegant, fresh, and persistent, marked by red fruits and a subtle mineral backbone.

Château Ausone

Château Ausone is one of the most iconic estates in Saint-Émilion, classified as a Premier Grand Cru Classé A (historical). Located on the limestone slopes of the appellation, it sits on a rare and highly sought-after terroir.

The vineyard is planted on limestone soils, particularly well suited to Merlot and Cabernet Franc, the estate’s dominant grape varieties. This combination produces wines of great finesse, with an elegant structure and remarkable depth.

The estate is known for its extremely high standards both in the vineyard and in the cellar, with a highly parcel-driven approach and carefully managed ageing in order to preserve the purity of the terroir.

Ausone wines are distinguished by their aromatic complexity, balance, and exceptional ageing potential, placing them among the leading benchmarks of Bordeaux’s Right Bank.
