Château Pontet-Canet 2025 – Pauillac : 98-100
The Château Pontet-Canet 2025 is a red wine from the Pauillac appellation on the left bank of the Médoc. It is a Fifth Growth (Cinquième Grand Cru Classé) from the 1855 classification, now regarded as one of the most emblematic estates of the left bank thanks to its powerful style and exemplary viticulture.
The vineyard covers around 80 hectares, planted on deep gravel ridges typical of Pauillac, sitting on clay-limestone subsoils. These soils provide excellent drainage while ensuring balanced water regulation, allowing for slow and complete ripening of Cabernet Sauvignon.
The 2025 vintage follows the estate’s signature style, showing fine concentration, full ripeness, and precise structure. The blend is dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon, complemented by Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and a small proportion of Petit Verdot.
The estate is particularly renowned for its pioneering biodynamic approach and demanding viticulture, aiming to express terroir as purely as possible while respecting the natural balance of the vine. Winemaking is minimally interventionist, and ageing is carried out in both French oak barrels and amphorae depending on the cuvée.
On the nose, aromas of blackcurrant, blackberry, and dark fruits are complemented by notes of graphite, violet, and spices. On the palate, the wine is dense and powerful, with firm yet refined tannins, great freshness, and a long, energetic finish.
This is a highly precise Pauillac, combining power, purity, and exceptional ageing potential.

The Château Pontet-Canet is a wine estate located in Pauillac, in the heart of the Médoc, on the left bank of Bordeaux, within the Pauillac appellation. It is a Fifth Growth (Cinquième Grand Cru Classé) from the 1855 classification and has become one of the key reference estates of the region.
The vineyard covers around 80 hectares, planted on deep gravel ridges typical of Pauillac, sitting on clay-limestone subsoils. This terroir provides excellent drainage and promotes slow, even, and complete ripening of Cabernet Sauvignon, the dominant grape of the estate.
The estate is historically structured around a planting dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon, complemented by Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot. This combination produces wines that are powerful, precise, and highly complex aromatically.
Château Pontet-Canet is also widely recognized for its pioneering commitment to biodynamic viticulture, fully focused on respecting the natural balance of the vineyard. Vineyard work is carried out without herbicides or synthetic products, with extreme attention paid to soil life and vine health.
Winemaking is minimally interventionist and carried out with great precision, while ageing combines French oak barrels and amphorae to preserve fruit purity and terroir expression.
Today, Pontet-Canet is considered one of the most emblematic estates of Pauillac, renowned for its powerful, pure, and deeply distinctive style.
